POET, PHOTOGRAPHER, STORYTELLER.
“WHAT DO YOU DO”
SPOKEN WORD POEM
“ECHO TRAILS”
LONG EXPOSURE PHOTO COLLABORATION WITH MY DOG
The greatest gift my parents ever gave me—besides my life and a sick name—would be a childhood of constant moves. At each new school I told better lies, knowing it was inevitably temporary. I became whoever I wanted to be. And that stuck with me, though I’ve (thankfully) outgrown the lying.
In each new friend-group, I savor the role of photographer. It’s my way of bringing permanence to the ephemeral. Documenting moments and memories feels as important to me as my best friend, Echo, and mushrooms are. I seek to turn my sentimental attachment to people, places, things, etc, into art.
Poems, to me, have always felt like a puzzle—choosing the right pieces to put together to create an image, and when you get to the end you feel satisfaction for having found what fits where.
They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, but how much is a word worth?
